NOA DG APPRECIATES KANO GOVERNMENT FOR DONATION OF OPERATIONAL VEHICLE

The Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, has expressed the Agency’s profound appreciation to the Kano State Government for the donation of a Toyota Hummer Bus to the Kano State Directorate of the Agency.

In a statement by the Director Communication and Media Bala Musa the vehicle was presented to the Directorate as part of the Kano State Government’s support towards strengthening the capacity of the Agency to effectively and efficiently disseminate government policies, programmes and public enlightenment messages across the State.

Mallam Issa-Onilu described the gesture as a demonstration of the Kano State Government’s recognition of the strategic role of the National Orientation Agency in bridging the communication gap between government and the people, promoting responsible citizenship and mobilising citizens towards national development.

The DG noted that the donation has come at a particularly critical time when the Agency is preparing to intensify its voter education campaign as part of efforts to promote informed, peaceful and responsible participation in the electoral process.

He said effective voter education requires extensive grassroots mobilisation and sustained engagement with citizens, particularly at the community level, adding that improved mobility would enhance the capacity of the Kano State Directorate to reach communities with credible and timely civic and voter education messages.

According to the Director-General, effective grassroots communication requires adequate operational and logistical support, particularly for an Agency whose officers regularly engage communities, traditional and religious institutions, markets, schools, civil society organisations, youth and women groups, as well as other critical stakeholders.

Mallam Issa-Onilu assured the Kano State Government that the vehicle would be put to good use and deployed judiciously towards enhancing the operational activities of the Kano State Directorate, including voter education, grassroots sensitisation, public enlightenment and community engagement.


Mallam Issa-Onilu also called on other state governments, corporate organisations and other stakeholders to emulate the Kano State Government by supporting the National Orientation Agency in strengthening its grassroots communication and citizen mobilisation capacity.

He stressed that supporting NOA is an investment in effective public communication, responsible citizenship, national unity and peace building and greater citizen participation in the democratic and development processes of the country.

The Director-General reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with the Kano State Government and other stakeholders in promoting the National Values Charter, voter education, security consciousness, national unity, responsible citizenship, social harmony and positive behavioural change among Nigerians.
