The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Niger State Command, says it has arrested three suspects and seized over 124 kilogrammes of cannabis sativa in separate operations across the state.
In a press release signed by the state commander Shehu Gwadabawa, 30-year-old Joseph John was arrested at Buntu Village in Tafa Local Government Area on August 26th, with six bags of cannabis weighing 76 kilogrammes.
Another suspect, 35-year-old Mukhtar Adamu, was arrested at Wawa town in Borgu Local Government Area on the same day, with four bags of cannabis weighing 48 kilogrammes.
The command also arrested 32-year-old Mohammed Bilya Shuaibu of Unguwan Kanawa, Bosso, Minna, on September 3rd, with 435 grammes of cannabis.
The NDLEA said it also participated in a nationwide raid on identified drug black spots and arrested 67 drug users and five dealers also that all the dealers have been charged before the Federal High Court in Minna, while the drug users are being counselled on the dangers of illicit drug consumption.
The agency says the raid operation will be sustained to disrupt drug-related activities in Niger State.
