FG assures parents of safe resumption, as unity Colleges resume Monday 14th September

The Federal Government has assured parents, guardians and students that all Federal Unity Colleges across the country will resume academic activities on Monday, September 14, 2026, as scheduled.

The Federal Ministry of Education, in a statement issued on Friday by its Director of Press and Public Relations, Folasade Boriowo, said necessary arrangements had been put in place to ensure a safe, peaceful and seamless commencement of the new academic session.

The Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa, gave the assurance, stressing that the safety and wellbeing of students and staff remained a priority of the Federal Government.

Alausa said relevant security agencies had been duly informed of the resumption plans and were maintaining heightened vigilance around the Federal Unity Colleges and their immediate environments.

According to him, the coordinated security measures are aimed at protecting students, staff and members of the school communities as academic activities resume nationwide.

The minister urged parents and guardians to remain calm, rely on official information and proceed with preparations for their children and wards to return to their respective schools on Monday.

He also directed the authorities of the Unity Colleges to maintain close coordination with security agencies and other relevant authorities to ensure an orderly and secure resumption.

Alausa further called on students, parents, teachers, school administrators and other stakeholders to work together to maintain a peaceful, supportive and secure learning environment.

He emphasised that the safety and wellbeing of learners remained a shared responsibility.

The ministry said it would continue to monitor developments and take necessary measures, in collaboration with relevant authorities, to ensure the smooth and safe resumption of academic activities in all Federal Unity Colleges.

It reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s education system and ensuring that children have access to quality education in a safe and conducive environment.

The ministry said the commitment was in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which places education and human capital development at the centre of Nigeria’s sustainable growth and national development.
