37 MINERS’ DEATHS: LET TRUTH PREVAIL OVER POLITICS

The reported death of 37 suspected illegal miners in Minna is a painful tragedy that deserves serious investigation, compassion, and justice.

However, Nigerians and niger lites must be cautious about turning this unfortunate incident into a political battle or using it as an opportunity to play blame games against Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago or any other individual before the facts are fully established.

There should be no premature conviction. Let the ongoing investigations establish what happened, who was responsible, and what measures are necessary to prevent a recurrence.

At the same time, I am concerned about the manner in which officers connected to the incident were publicly paraded. Officers who are still under investigation should be treated according to due process, suspension is not conviction, and allegation is not guilt.

Our security personnel face difficult situations every day in the service of the nation, While any officer found culpable must face appropriate sanctions, we must also ensure that the handling of this case does not unnecessarily demoralise other young officers who are expected to carry out their duties professionally and courageously.

Let us mourn the 37 lives lost, support their families, demand transparency, and allow the investigation to speak.

This tragedy should bring Niger State together, not become another instrument for political division.

May Allah grant the deceased eternal rest and give their families the strength to bear this painful loss.
